OK, so uhhh.. I've been bad at this recently lol. For anyone who is legitimately interesting in my writing, I'm really sorry for not keeping my end of the bargain. However... well, good or bad news. I have another story idea that I'd like to pursue and it's significantly smaller in scope than what I'm temporarily calling "Deus Ex Mundane" (aka the other story) And I have a proposal at the risk of being scooped. Have you ever noticed that some people (perhaps all) have quirks about them? I mean very specific things like... exotic cigarettes that they smoke, or a certain kind of hat maybe. A hairstyle, a certain jacket, a pipe of certain wood. A handsewn handerchief, a hip flask, a certain tick in how they say this or that word. An accent, a whistle, a song. You get the idea. Quirks make people more interesting and normally have a story to tell, but they always seem to match the person who they belong as naturally as a limb would. At least that's how I see them, and in either case I've decided it's a interesting place to write a story from. I want to write a story about a family that runs a store that sells quirks to people and their "adventures" so to speak. How they came to run this store, who started it, and their undoubtedly interesting clientelle. I like the idea of some older character like a grandfather who acts as the preserver of an ancient tradition of sensing what kind of attribute to assignt to people. He could for example see a man and know instantly he is missing a vest with this pattern made of this material; if that makes sense. And I think I'll write it partially from the perspective of a younger relative who works in the store as well. But, in either case it's just something I'm toying with now. Let me know what you think!
